The model offensive at the Chrysler company continues unbroken: After the Dodge Caliber, the SRT variants for the Chrysler 300C and the jeep Grand Cherokee as well as that likewise this year presented COMM other follows now the jeep compass. With more modern Design and high-quality all wheel technology he competes in the segment of the compact SUVs. The requirement is high: It should always and everywhere be the car.

The opponents compass are fast constituted - and indeed no Leichtgewichte: Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tuscon stand highly in the favour of the buyers, the segment boomt continuing. Usually there are two ways, in order to break in with success in a well set up market. Better or more favorably its than the competition. Differently with jeep: In order to go safe, the compass is to be better and more favorable.

The thing with the price is easy: The compass starts with 23.990 euro and costs thereby achievement as well as equipment actually less than the counterparts of Toyota, Honda and Hyundai. Because already the basis model has a 2,4-Liter-Vierzylinder-Benziner with 170 HP under the hood, in series a permanent all-wheel drive and good equipment (extensive safety package, CD radio, nebula lights and 17-Zoll-Räder). In addition there is the traditional Rundumsorglos package, which contains four years long all repair, service and maintenance cost inclusive wearing parts.

The 2010 Jeep Grande Cherokee is ranked number 15 out of 27 when compared against other affordable mid-size sports utility vehicles. The new 2010 model is equipped with an exhaust- gas recirculation valve that improves fuel efficiency.

Although the Cherokee has been awarded with numerous accolades, fuel efficiency is somewhat lower than other mid-size SUVS. However, when compared to other off- road only vehicles, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is slightly better than average and even ranks in the category of good.

Although fuel economy does fluctuate based on driver variations as well as driving conditions, one can expect to get about 15 to 16 miles to the gallon when driving in the city and about 20 to 21 miles per gallon highway. These averages can differ when the car is driven harder or at higher speeds than usual. This is comparable, but less than other affordable mid -size SUVs in its class that are not off-roading cars.

On the other hand, when compared to other off-roading vehicles, the Jeep ranks slightly higher than the popular Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder and the Chevy Trailblazer. In addition, the Jeep offers a better ride as well as handling.

The 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers excellent handling, comfort, and luxury. Although fuel efficiency is not poor, it is lower than most sports utility vehicles. However, if you are searching for an off-road only truck, the Jeep Cherokee does offer better fuel economy that most of its reputable counterparts

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited offers extreme power with their 3.8L V6 engine, which is a great boost in their off-road performance. Jeep's "Go Anywhere, Do Anything" tag line never held more true than it does participating in an off-road adventure. The machine can be maneuvered through the off-road systems, Command-Trac or Rock-Trac used on 4-wheel drive systems. Command-Trac and Rock-Trac should be used on the lowest traction surface, including ice and wet surfaces, for easy steering. Also, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited features the latest in new technology to keep its driver constantly connected to the outside world. Jeep's Uconnect system has four different avenues in which a driver can specialize to their vehicle, depending upon their needs. Uconnect offers a multimedia Sirius Satellite radio, navigation system, phone, or vocally operated, system, and a web option. Jeep won a Good Housekeeping VIP, or Very Innovative Products, Award in 2009 for this feature. It is features like these that keep Jeep vehicles so diverse and so customized to their consumers.

Jeep is not only concerned about the "bells and whistles" of the machine, though. Jeep takes great care into making sure that the people who are driving their vehicles are safe, at all times. The company integrated a B-pillar that runs into the floor of the vehicle. This improves the side-impact resistance. Besides the standard front and side airbags, seat belts, and emergency brake, Jeep took some great precautions with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The Electronic Stability Control is manufactured to handle serious situations and helps the driver maintain full control of the vehicle. It auto-corrects the throttle and applies the driver's brakes when it feels the driver losing control.

The company also offers Electronic Roll Mitigation. It has sensors on the vehicle that detect when a rollover of the vehicle is possible and begins a applying the braking force to correct the wheels. This will help avoid not only danger to the driver and their passengers, but to other drivers on the road, as well. However, these aren't the only ways that a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited keeps you safe.

You can protect your personal belongings with a lockable center console and glove box. Not to mention, there is also a hidden storage bin in the trunk. Jeep does all this to ensure that their drivers have the fullest protection possible while driving one of their vehicles.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is a vehicle that is sure to keep you safe, provide you with a ton of space and storage, and be the highlight of wherever life takes you. No matter what your reasons are for choosing a Jeep, it a great choice.

Death wobble is very common on lifted Jeeps but can occur on stock vehicle as well. The root cause is the instability of the inverted Y steering linkage on the Jeep.

When every thing is working well, this type of steering and suspension works very well. However, when things go wrong, the shake can be very scary and can potentially damaging.

The axle is located side to side by the track bar. The joint on the frame end is made like a tie rod and is susceptible to damage due to corrosion and over extension. Just a very sight amount of wear in this joint can allow the axle to move side to side and can lead to the death wobble shake.

Another base cause of death wobble is the caster angle. The caster angle changes slightly when the XJ Cherokee is lifted due to the unequal length control arms. This angle can be corrected with shims. Very often death wobble can be eliminated by altering the caster angle. More or less caster than the factory recommended settings may be required for your suspension so you may have to experiment.

Worn or soft control arm bushings can lead to caster angle changes and therefore lead to death wobble. Replacing worn bushings are retrofitting polyurethane bushings can correct your steering angles and sometimes eliminate the death wobble.

To check the track bar and it mounting points, have an assistant move the steering wheel back and forth while you observe the track bar and its mounting points. Also, by placing a finger on the tire and on the fender flare note any side to side movement of the axle when the wheels are turned. Often you can feel the axle body of the truck move slightly before the wheel starts to turn if there is wear in the track bar or is mounts.

Another possible source of difficulty are the steering box bolts. The bolts that pass through the steering box and secure it to the frame also pass through an aluminum spacer. Often this spacer corrodes and keeps the bolts form turning. Even if they feel tight with a wrench, they may not be holding the box tight to the frame. Also, this area of the frame is highly stressed by off road driving and larger tires and can break. Any looseness in the steering box mounts can contribute to death wobble.

Jeep has given the SRT treatment to its flagshipGrand Cherokee and the result is the creation of the firm’s fastest and most potent production model ever. How does a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration of 4.8 seconds or a quarter mile time in the mid-13 second range sound? This is what the Grand Cherokee SRT8 is capable of, and the reason for these figures lies under the SUV's bonnet.
The Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology division (SRT for short) equipped the performance SUV with an all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that delivers 465 horsepower and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.
Compared to the outgoing model powered by the 6.1-liter HEMI V8 unit, the new Grand Cherokee SRT8 has an extra 45HP and 45 lb-ft (61 Nm) of torque. About 90 percent of peak torque is available between 2,800 and 6,000 rpm. The Grand Cherokee SRT8 can do 0-100-0 mph in the mid-16 second range and has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Standard Fuel Saver Technology and a new active valve exhaust system mean the engine can run on 4 cylinders alone on a wider rpm range, delivering better mileage (up to 13 percent better on the highway) and an extended range of around 450 miles (724 km) on one tank of gas.
The engine is linked to an automatic transmission with standard paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. The Quadra-Trac AWD system can transfer up to 100 percent of available torque to one rear wheel in slippery conditions. Add to that the adaptive damping suspension and the five-mode Selec-Track system that tunes the dynamics of the car and you have a complete picture of the SRT8's on and off-road capabilities. Jeep says the SUV is capable of 0.90 g on the skid pad and that it can brake from 60 mph in 116 feet (35.3 meters).
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 has the looks to match its performance, thanks to its lowered body (by 1 inch/2.5 cm) and the SRT body kit comprising of wheel arches and side sills painted in the car's color, plus a racing-style front bumper that sports LED daytime running lights and a large air intake in the lower part.
Other modifications include the body-colored grille with a black background and chrome inserts and the sculpted hood fitted with dual black heat extractors for added engine cooling. At the rear, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 features a new spoiler, a new bumper with integrated air diffuser and dual exhaust system.
The interior features a dedicated heated steering wheel, special SRT instrument panel, Nappa leather and suede upholstery and carbon trim, among others. The car debuted today at the New York Auto Show and will reach U.S. showrooms in third quarter of the year.
