The highlight of the tune is hidden under the hood as the Kizashi Apex Concept sports a turbocharged unit based on the stock 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Along with a Garrett turbocharger, engineers added an air-to-liquid intercooler and an electronic boost control, and optimized the engine control unit. Suzuki says the system takes the Kizashi's peak output into the 275-300 horsepower range, with a maximum boost of 8.5 psi.
To further improve efficiency, the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept makes use of numerous fuel-saving technologies such as regenerative braking, a start/stop system, fuel cut-off during deceleration events and low-rolling resistance tires. While Suzuki did not release specific figures, the comapny said that the EcoCharge Concept delivers a 25 percent improvement in highway fuel economy over the standard Kizashi.
To justify its conceptual nature, Suzuki made some styling changes to the Kizashi EcoCharge that include a unique luminescent white satin paint design with a subtle blue undercoat, along with the addition of modified headlamps, LED fog lights and bespoke alloy wheels.

Joining the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept at the New York Auto Show is a second prototype version of Suzuki’s sedan model called the Kizashi Apex Concept. While the EcoCharge hybrid is all about improving fuel economy, the Apex version concentrates purely on the performance aspect of the build while also showcasing the link between Suzuki's automotive division and its championship-winning motorcycles.
