The Dodge Caravan is one of the best selling Dodge vehicles, and one of the leading minivans on the market. The Dodge Caravan can be equipped with one of two engines: a 3.3L V6, or a 3.8L V6. The base 3.3L V6 is an overhead valve unit that is capable of running either unleaded gasoline or the E85 ethanol/gasoline fuel mixture. The engine uses a sequential fuel injection system, and is mated to a four speed automatic transmission. The minivan incorporates a front wheel drive layout, and has a towing capacity of eighteen hundred pounds when properly equipped. The 3.3L engine produces one hundred and seventy-five horsepower at five thousand revolutions per minute, and two hundred and five pound feet of torque at four thousand revolutions per minute.

Dodge created the minivan market in 1983 when it first introduced the Caravan. As America's most affordable seven-seater, the 2007 Caravan still hits the mark for families that need to haul a lot of people but don't want to spend much more than $20,000. However, as Edmunds says, "Though the 2007 Dodge Caravan might appeal to tight-budget families in need of a no-frills minivan, it is otherwise outclassed by newer and more desirable competitors." The Caravan will be discontinued after the 2007 model year, while the Grand Caravan, a larger corporate sibling to the Caravan, will continue with a 2008 redesign.
